Comm'on, when are they EVER open? and when they are, the food sucks big time.

2011-02-20 18:54:16

want to warn people beware of this place, food made me sick for days.

2010-12-29 10:48:15

I used to go get a few bags of coffee every time I am in town for business. Went there this time and could not get the same coffee any longer. I remember it used to always smell good in there with coffee and food, now it smells like trash, literally.

2010-09-10 09:09:52

most expensive taco ever, 10 dollars for that little thing and we ended up both sick the whole day. horrible! WILL NOT GO BACK EVER AGAIN!

2010-09-04 11:07:18

Good service but food was not. We used to recommend it to new comers in the office but won't now.

2010-08-26 17:33:58

Hotel people recommended it. It is convenient and okay priced. Nothing is extraordinary and the decor and music rather tacky but over all not a bad place to plan your day if you are raveling.

2010-08-25 15:46:38

They should be removed from search keyword best coffee.

2010-08-22 04:11:31

We were looking for cupcakes as advertised but they don't have any. Very deceiving.

2010-08-22 04:11:27

They are not too bad, won't give them an Excellent but for what I paid, it was decent. I am a food critic from NYC.

2010-08-22 04:11:24

quite a disappointment. Sandwiches are premade not fresh, coffee is ok but not great. Don't know what all these praises are about.

2010-08-22 04:11:24

Not great as people said. I've had better. Sandwiches not fresh, salad tasted funny. Would not go again.

Hi Samosas1,

THANK YOU for you comment, I am one of the girls who work there and do not know what she's doing.

I think it's a very positive comment because it's time for us to improve our skills as a Baristas and do it our own way, it will never be the same as before because NOBODY is the same and that's the best part of it.

The food won't taste the same and the coffee as well. However, we have been rated in place for formers and new customers and they are coming back on a regular basis.

Thank you again for your comment, it's really nice to know that we can still improving and that is hard to please everyone.

It's not the same anymore, used to be very good coffee. The 2 professional baristas are gone, now instead some girls who obviously don't know what they are doing standing behind the counter. Coffee sucked big time. Food was so so, you can tell they have a different cook if you have been there before. Don't go, not the same anymore.

excellant coffee and I like their food, too.

2010-02-18 07:18:33

Don't know about coffee, I don't drink coffee. But it must be good when people are buying the beans to go home. What I want to say is, their Chili totally rocks! I am eating it right now in the cafe. Best Chili in the world, right here in Old Montreal's Cafe Momus. It's home made, hearty with lots of beef and beans. Very spicy, they are not kidding when they say spicy, but meanwhile very flavorful, unbelievable. It is bowl licking good!

2010-02-10 07:23:07

Yes, they do have the best coffee. Great services, too, free Wi-fi, friendly yet not pushy, good food in a very reasonable price in Old Montreal. The girl who was very friendly and good memory turned out to be one of the owners, I later learned that she used to be an opera star. This is a wonderful little place that's full of surprises indeed.

this is a pleasant place to sit in and have great coffee and good food. the owners are such a lovely couple and cheerful people, even though the business is suffering. I feel sorry for them because the City of Montreal really screwed them up, they had construction that lasted all summer for 2 years, 18 out of 30 months there were construction t their door step. at one point they had no street, and then no sidewalk for about 3 months time. City shut down water without issuing a warning, so their espresso machine burned down....all kind of troubles, not any reimbursement from the city, instead the taxes are even skyrocketed. but the lady of the cafe is so nice and stays positive. I hate to see them suffer like this because they do have great food, all home made and authentic. these are people who deserve respect and appreciation for what they can offer. their coffee is very tasty. they roast coffee from green beans right in the cafe and with old fashioned, European style brewing, I am sure you'll like it. I am pleading with you to go help out our local stores like this beautiful neat cafe, now that the construction has been completed. treat yourself to a pleasant surprise!

If you like soup, you must try their soup. I think I have seen the chef on TV's Food Channel at least once. She makes the best soup ever. Other foods are also good but the soup is the best, never once I was disappointed.

Best coffee, perfect services. Food is extraordinary and unconventional. Do try it, they are not far from the Basilica Notre Dame.

Yes, regarding the other review about this cafe has its own roaster. It is all true and we were very amazed of the small size of the roaster. The owner who's also the roast master told us that it only takes about 30 minutes to roast a batch and they only roast what's needed in 2 days worth or so. We didn't believe a small roaster could do any good, but in fact, their coffee is the best we've ever had in Canada. We also ordered some Asian-flavored sandwiches and soup. They are excellent! My wife had Sesame Beef in a wrap and I had some simple tuna. The taste is, well, unusual, refreshing and mmmm good. Soup was extrordinary, too, apparently the chef's famous for her soup. It was some sort of a rice soup with curry seasoning. If you ever are in Old Montreal and are looking for some decent priced (the area is known to be mostly over-priced), healthy and light meals, this is the place to go. We come back often because we live around here, and they offer free Internet service.

OMG! Coffee lovers should all come try their coffee. I ordered a cup of their Kona a few days ago, was a little skeptical at first because I had not had any good or even decent Kona outside of Hawaii Islands. But their Kona is the absolute BEST, even better than what I had in Hawaii! Turned out the beans was only roasted the day before I went in, at the store they have a roaster. I am very very impressed. When I return to Montreal next month, I am going to visit again before I go home to Seattle. For a coffee snob from Seattle to say their coffee is outside of the world, trust me, it means VERY MUCH.

I love the coffee-fresh, clean and the best in Montreal!

2009-01-02 10:49:00

discovered this wonderful cafe in old montreal. clean, modern design bright and cozy. coffee is out of the world delicious, only when they started roasting coffee in the cafe it got a little smoky so had to leave. food was very tasty, not ordinary everyday sandwiches, had a hint of asian flavor. it was an experience very much enjoyed and will revisit very soon. if you are looking for best coffee in montreal, this is the place to go.

Love love love the coffee... and the food is great too. Highly recommended!!

2008-11-03 05:17:21

I am sitting in Cafe Momus right at this moment, enjoying their freshly roasted 9this morning!) and brewed Kona coffee. It is amazing, I have had Kona coffee before, but not like this. The bean size is about 4 times bigger than the regular Kona, the taste...how can one describe heaven? They have just imported this Big Beans Kona from Hawaii recently, coffee lovers beware, this is not your ordinary Kona. Highly recommended.

great coffee and excellent sandwiches.

2007-10-05 22:30:06

best coffee ever is right, best coffee in Montreal, best in Canada. i've had freshly rosted coffee before but beans at cafe momus are just better. i think the grade of the beans play a huge part of it. they are not so much more expensive either. i think they are cheaper than cafe depot or second cup

2007-10-05 08:34:45

best coffee ever, 5 stars

2007-09-15 02:05:33

Really the best coffee in town. can tell simply from the filtered coffee, the freshness. great smiles from these people, too.
