Thank you foodpages.ca for helping me find Kaizen Sushi Bar in Montreal, on my last trip to Canada, The Sushi &sashimi were amazing and probably the freshest i have ever experianced....they had fish i have never been able to try anywhere outside of Japan...the maki(s)where the most creative i have ever tasted...it sure made an impression on my business associates...Canadians sure have a great bargain in this world class restaurant ..one would have to pay 2 or 3 times these prices for lesser quality in any other major city...i might think of moving to Montreal for the sheer joy and value of it's cuisine..

Ate there once and was very unimpressed. The service was the worst I've had in my 5 years in Montreal, and the sushi was fine, but not worth the wait or price.

Kaizen Sushi Bar is the Best sushi Bar in Montreal....nothing in this city comes even close to the bar they have consistantly set as far as freshness, creativeness, and balance of tastes in this city. I have enjoyed this sushi house for over a decade. The numerous and destinctive cold Sakes they have to offer is second to none in this town. Their wine cellar is also outstanding in the choices that work wonderfully with such fresh fish and seafood. There is a new executive chef at the helm of the kitchens and sushi bar at Kaizen. His name is Antonio Park and I believe he is the fellow from the Japanese Restaurant at 357c, the very exclusive private club in Old Montreal, where the nouveau riche of Quebec Inc. dine with heads of states and all the visiting celebrities. What a catch for Kaizen to add that depth of talent to an already talented team. I truely look forward to yetg another decade of enjoyment @ Kaizen!!

Living near Kaizen, I've been there a number or times, but considering the reputation, I have not been impressed.

Last week, I picked up sushi for myself and my gf, she had only vegetarian roles, and I had a few fish rolls. I found that the vegetarians were not very flavorful, and relied on salad dressing for flavour. The fish rolls weren't bad, but were very small. I had a kamikaze roll that had 4 pieces for 8$. Also, the rice was again ok, but far from being the best sushi rice I've ever tasted. Lastly, when ordering pick-up, you still have to pay the mandatory 10% tip.

So, if you go for the ambiance or a swanky NY style sushi house, you'll get it, but the food did not impress and was no on par with the price.

I rate this restaurant as having the Best Sushi in Montreal, and it does not stop there, the grilled fish from marinated Black Cod from Alaska to the greatest grilled Swordfish under the sun, and a super fresh oyster bar, it has never failed to satisfy my family, friends or business associates. Service can be a bit spotty as the restaurant is always busy, but they are always friendly!
