Description
FRESH FISH AND SEAFOOD
Combining an elegant ambiance with authentic Greek Island cuisine, Molivos specializes in a wide array of savoury seafood dishes including charbroiled octopus, soft-shell crab, fried squid, jumbo shrimp and fresh fish cooked to perfection. And for those diners whose palates prefer the tastes of the turf to the surf, Molivos also offers a number of traditional Greek delicacies including grilled vegetables, dolmades (vine leaves stuffed with rice and herbs), chicken brochettes, lamb chops, fried eggplant or zucchini, saganaki (fried Kafalograveria cheese), tzatziki and scordalia (potatoes with garlic). Greek Islands Feel Featuring a lively atmosphere and traditional taverna-style decor designed to give the restaurant an authentic Greek Islands feel, Molivos still remains a popular choice amongst local area gourmands more than two decades after serving their first customer. Much more upscale than the average Greek restaurant in Montreal, Molivos also boasts an extensive wine list for their more sophisticated clientele. And if you really want to make the most of your experience with Greek cuisine, be sure to order a shot of Ouzo (a traditional Greek liquor made from anise) to complement your meal. Attracting a large following of loyal customers and friends, the family-owned Molivos is a true Montreal success story.

I went there recently on a Monday night. Expecting to find a quiet restaurant, I was surprised to see it almost full and mostly with regulars, I surmised by the familiarity the staff and owners had with the clients. Started with grilled oyster mushrooms and octopus (very tender), small salad and then split a snapper for two (pricey @ $50, but good). So-so rice, great lima beans and 1/2 bottle of wine, $ 120.00.
Service very good. Owner came by with complimentary metaxa(nice touch). Will be back.

I have been there perhaps 30 times. Only once did I not enjoy the experience, and that was due to a large group making too much noise. The shrimps, salads and octopus are my favorite dishes. Good for vegetarians as well.

A company I consult with booked a section for a board meeting. Odd, I thought at first, but the privacy was more than I believed possible and the atmosphere made for a casual discussions. The menu selected was excellent, as they brought a large assortment of appetizers including shrimps, octopus and fried zucchinni and eggplant chips with a yogourt style dip. Main courses were a choice between salmon, snapper and lamb. Highly recommended.

As VANCOUVER residents, we dinned here on June 18th, 2009 with our Montreal hosts (Roubens) and absolutely loved the food. Wonderful salads and 'fresh' seafood !!!!! A great choice! My wife particularly loved the DISPLAY of fresh fish brought to the table 'before ordering' by our wait staff.
